What Does the Bible Say About Homosexuality?

The Biblical institution of marriage is clearly between one man and one woman. The Genesis account is the foundation of our understanding of Biblical marriage. God created a woman for the man, when he was alone. Adam named her "Woman", declaring that she was the bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh. The scripture states:
And Adam said: "This is now bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, Because she was taken out of Man." Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. (Gen 2:23-24 NKJ)
God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because of the great wickedness in those cities. One of the wickedness practiced there was homosexuality. We get our English word "Sodomy" from Sodom. When God sent his angels to destroy that city, the men of the city, on knowing that strangers had arrived, went crazy to have sex with the men. Such was their wickedness. (Gen 19).

The Biblical Law stipulated:
If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to death. Their blood shall be upon them. (Lev 20:13 NKJ)
Paul describes homosexuality as the result of religious corruption and mental debasement. When men exchange the truth of God for the lie of the world and exchange the worship of God for the worship of worldliness, then perversion ensues:
Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man-- and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting. (Rom 1:22-28 NKJ)
The Bible tells us that homosexuals who don't repent of their sins should not be deceived; they will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. (1Co 6:9-10 NKJ)

  1. Mmm. Corruption, debasement, great wickedness- why do you feel the need to say this?

You know, I consider my friends, happy couples, and I recognise nothing of this in them.

  2. Hello Clare, Thanks for the comment! The word "corruption", in this post, related to corruption in religious practices; in which the creature is valued above the Creator. Debasement of mind, according to Romans 1, is what causes this corruption of divine image in worship. People begin to extol money, sex, and strength above God. It affects thinking. For instance, the very pure concept of love is corrupted and turned into a materialistic pleasure thing. To quote an example, the mind that has a confused view of love will look at the love of David and Jonathan in the Bible as a case of homoeroticism. It is difficult for such a mind to understand the phrase, "Your love to me was wonderful, surpassing the love of women. (2Sa 1:26 NKJ), as non-erotic, friendly love (see Wiki article "David and Jonathan"). Great wickedness is used in connection with the Sodom incident, where the men of the city were violent to sexually abuse the strangers lodging with Lot. An evil practice in a person doesn't mean that the person is an embodiment of evil in totality. Hitler's men during the Nazi regime would go and gas Jewish children in the gas chambers, then come home and have normal playtime with their own kids. But, that normality doesn't justify what they did to the kids earlier. The Bible does expose many sins among men. Homosexuality is only one of them. The biggest of sins, however, is not homosexuality but causing offense to the little ones and leading them to stumble. I believe what the grown-up generation does today is lay down a road on which the next generation will walk. The question we ask is: Is this road right? And, if it is wrong, isn't it a great wickedness?

Is Water Baptism Necessary Before Partaking in Lord's Supper

"Last Supper" by Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo (1750) Yes, it is. Water baptism identifies one with the redemption work of Jesus Christ, with His death, burial, and resurrection. It is anticipated of visible identification with Christ and His Church. Every person has the personal responsibility to examine him/herself before deciding to partake in the Lord's Table. The Bible makes it clear that those who chose not to be baptized were rejecting the counsel of God (Lk.7:30). In a mixed congregation, it is not possible to always know who is worthy to partake of the Table; however, the minister must encourage only those who have been baptized for remission of sins (not just as a ritual but by faith in Jesus Christ) to partake of the Table. Before Jesus sat down to dip bread in the cup, He washed His disciples' feet. He makes the statement that they are already "washed" and only need feet to be washed. Of course, this may not explicitly/only refer to their baptism, fo

Matthew 6:31-33

"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Mat 6:31-33) The original sense of nakedness was from that deep insecurity of autonomy that sprung from man's first alienation from God due to sin-- spiritual death. Seeking God marks man's refusal to stay alienated by turning towards His Maker in whom alone is Covering and true Security and no reason to be ashamed anymore.

Placebo and the Philosophy of Mind and Matter in Drug Research

A placebo is a non-therapeutic substance administered under the camouflage of medication to deceive patients into believing that they are receiving medications; this done solely for psychological and not for physiological effects. Placebo may usually be used to compare its effects with the effects of other drugs in drug research. Let's take the case of an experiment that tries to establish whether a particular drug, say to treat weariness, is genuine or merely has the effects of a placebo. Suppose 20 candidates are chosen for this experiment. 10 are given the drug and the rest are put on a placebo while they are told that the placebo is a genuine medication. They need to make sure that the deception is well carried on for the success of the experiment. If both the groups make similar improvements after taking the treatments, the new drug seems to only function as a placebo in effect. The basic hypothesis of the placebo raises the question of mind over matter. Of course, this pushes
