Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, "I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?" NOT Anointing of Jesus for the Office of Priest, Prophet, or King. Christ is the Anointed One, and His Anointing is eternal. He is the Anointer. 2. NOT identification with sinful humanity as if Jesus were being baptized in the same manner as others--not, at all. Jesus identified with humanity by partaking of human nature in His Incarnation. John didn’t baptize Him with the baptism of repentance like he baptized others.
