Agrippa I also known as Herod Agrippa or simply Herod (10 BCE - 44 CE), King of the Jews, was the grandson of Herod the Great , and son of Aristobulus IV and Berenice. His original name was Marcus Julius Agrippa, so named in honour of Roman statesman Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa, and he is the king named Herod in the Acts of the Apostles, in the Bible, "Herod (Agrippa)" (Ἡρώδης Ἀγρίππας). He was, according to Josephus, known in his time as "Agrippa the Great." His death is mentioned in Acts 12 in the words "an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died." Modern scholars believe he might have died of Fournier's gangrene, a kidney disease, the same that also killed his grandfather Herod the Great ( See CNN article ).
