Deliverance from Myself

"Kurien Thomas has 4 enemies: the world, the flesh, the devil, and Kurien Thomas; the greatest and most dreadful of these is Kurien Thomas himself." ~ Dr. Kurien Thomas How blessed it is when a man knows Christ as his Deliverer from himself! We desire salvation from sin, from sickness, from the affliction and bondage of the devil, while the greatest and deadliest of all enemies rests within us - it is our own self. "From an external enemy, I can run as far as I can; but, I can't run away from myself" ~ Dr. Kurien Thomas" (Kurien Thomas) I am my own enemy, I am my own death. Even if I chose, this thing I can't reject. I can fight or run from any enemy that I have; But, I can't fight or run from my very self!! Oh, how deadly is the state of that man who is ensnared by himself; How ghastly and fatal his hope and his end! Lord, bring me out of this miry clay of myself, And cast my feet on You, the Solid Rock!! Domenic Marbaniang, July 2010

Omnipotence Paradox - Can God Create a Stone He Cannot Lift?

PROBLEM: The so-called paradox of the stone asks: "Could God (Who is omnipotent) create a stone so heavy that He could not lift it?" If so, then He cannot be omnipotent; if not, then He is not omnipotent. ANSWER: The comparative "heavier" doesn't apply to infinity; therefore, the question is contradictory and, consequently, meaningless. 1. Infinity is that which is without a beginning, a middle, and an end. Therefore, internal comparisons don't apply to it. 2. Only a greater infinite can supercede an infinite; but, "a greater infinite" is a meaningless category, since infinite is the maximal superlative. Domenic Marbaniang, July 2010

What Does It Mean To Believe in Christ

There can only be three main varieties of responses to Christ: disinterest, disbelief, and faith. Each of these responses need to be evaluated. But, before we do that, let's point out some similarities between these responses. 1. Mode of Relating.  Each of these responses is a mode of relating to Christ. 2. Personal. Each response is personal, not just in the sense that it's a personal, subjective decision, but also that it's a response to a Person, Jesus Christ and not just to some commodity or concept. 3. Decisive.  The response is voluntary and decisive. It involves a choice that determines the direction in which one's faith will progress. Now, let's examine each of these one by one. Disinterest Disinterest is a value-judgment. The reason why people find the topic of Christ, or Christ Himself, quite uninteresting is either because they have very less information about Him or because they have enough mis-information about Him or because they cannot regard the info...

Maintaining our Edge

Sunday, July 4, 2010, 7:00pm Pentecostal Church of God, Itarsi Message by Rev. Dr. Matthew K. Thomas TEXT But as one was cutting down a tree, the iron ax head fell into the water; and he cried out and said, "Alas, master! For it was borrowed." So the man of God said, "Where did it fall?" And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float.  (2Ki 6:5-6) MAINTAINING OUR EDGE Three men were hired by a man to cut the trees of his forest. Two of them worked very hard without taking any break. One, however, took a break every two hours. In the evening, the two came and complained that the other was breaking in a lot for rest, while they had worked hard and cut 17 trees. The owner asked the other man, who replied that he had taken those breaks to actually sharpen his axe and that he had cut 29 trees. Do we take time to sharpen our axes, the power given to us by God? Why People Lose Their Edge 1. Because they listen to peopl...

Children Are A Heritage from the Lord: Birthday Message

A BIRTHDAY MESSAGE Psa 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. 1. CHILDREN ARE GOD'S GIFT TO PARENTS (VARDAN) Example. Isaac, Samuel, Solomon 2. CHILDREN HAVE A DESTINY MARKED BY GOD (BHAVISHYA PARMESHWAR DWARA NIRDHARIT KIYA GAYA) Parents must guide children on the right way to reach the future God has chosen for them. Examples of Good parents: Hannah, Bathsheba, Lois and Eunice (2 Timothy 1) Examples of Bad parents: Eli, Samuel, David 3. CHILDREN ARE BELOVED TO GOD Jesus said "Let the children come to me" Jesus said "If you offend any one of these, it's better to tie a milestone and drown in the sea" That's one reason why we must especially care for the ORPHANS, FATHERLESS, and HOMELESS
